Meet the Dentists

Dr. Anbec DeShield-Mayes graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a double major in Chemistry and African, African-American and Diaspora Studies. In 2009, she graduated from the UNC-Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry and has worked in both private and public health dentistry. She also has a Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Health Care from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Dr. DeShield-Mayes started her career with FirstHealth Dental Care Centers, which is a nonprofit dental center that serves the underserved youth of North Carolina. She has served as an adjunct faculty member at the UNC-ASOD and enjoys mentoring students and new graduates from both UNC-ASOD and East Carolina School of Dental Medicine. Dr. DeShield-Mayes served as the President of the North Carolina Dental Society 3rd District from 2016-2020, which covers 13 counties including Guilford.  She is an active member and has held numerous leadership positions in the Old North State Dental Society, Greensboro Medical Society, American Dental Association, and North Carolina Dental Society since she graduated dental school. 

Her greatest source of pride, however, is her beautiful daughter. 

Hello! I’m Dr. Brianna Jones, and I’m thrilled to join the Best Smile Dental team. I was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, and I’m excited to return to my roots and contribute to the local community.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hampton University in Hampton, VA, followed by a Master of Medical Science from Mississippi College. My journey in dentistry culminated with my Doctor of Dental Surgery from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. With my diverse educational background and training, I’m eager to bring a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge to our practice.

As a general dentist, I enjoy a wide range of procedures, including preventative care, restorative treatment, cosmetic dentistry, and emergency dental care. I’m passionate about staying current with the latest advancements in the field through continuing education and love engaging in community outreach to support those in need.

My goal is to help each patient take pride in their smile, just as others have helped me throughout my career. I’m dedicated to creating a positive, comfortable, and caring environment for everyone who walks through our doors.

When I’m not at the office, you’ll find me painting, traveling, or spending quality time with my family. I’m looking forward to rediscovering Greensboro and getting to know all of you. I’m excited to provide the best care possible and to be part of your journey to a healthier, happier smile.
